Should I Get a Breast Lift with Implants?
When considering breast lift surgery, the decision of whether or not you should also receive implants will depend on your ultimate goals. By definition, a breast lift – also referred to as mastopexy – is a procedure performed to lift and reshape the breasts to restore a more youthful contour and projection. In contrast, a breast augmentation is conducted to enhance the size of the breasts with implants. Although both operations can help rejuvenate the appearance of your breasts, mastopexy alone will not provide substantial volume enhancement, and breast augmentation by itself will not significantly lift the breasts.
For this reason, a breast lift with implants is generally necessary if you desire to elevate your breasts AND increase their size. In addition to added volume and improved projection, benefits of a breast lift combined with augmentation can also include enhanced shape and firmness, as well as longer-lasting outcomes. The two procedures can either be performed simultaneously or separately.
Ultimately, if you are considering breast enhancement of any kind, it is recommended you consult a board certified plastic surgeon to determine the most appropriate procedure for your unique needs and/or goals.
