Recovery from Breast Lift with Augmentation
The recovery process for breast lift surgery (mastopexy) combined with breast augmentation is similar to what you can expect for either procedure performed alone. Throughout the healing process, patients are asked to wear surgical or sports bras for added comfort and support. Most individuals experience some mild discomfort in the days following surgery, but this can generally be managed with pain medication and should dissipate relatively quickly. The breasts may also appear slightly swollen and/or bruised for several days, though these side effects should also diminish over time.
Dr. Lorri Cobbins and Dr. Brian Braithwaite, our board certified plastic surgeons, typically advise patients that after about five to seven days, the majority of individuals are able to return to non-strenuous work. Light exercise such as walking can often be resumed at one to two weeks, and heavy labor and/or strenuous upper body activity can generally be resumed after approximately four to six weeks.
Ultimately, every individual heals differently, so the time needed for recovery may vary based on your body’s unique healing process. By evaluating your needs and goals at the time of your consultation, Drs. Cobbins or Braithwaite should be able to provide a more personalized outline of what to expect after mastopexy with augmentation.
