Non-Surgical vs. Surgical Brow Lift
Over time, factors such as our lifestyle, environment, and even genetic makeup contribute to the development of various signs of aging on the brow and forehead. Some of the most common of these aging symptoms include wrinkles and creases on the forehead, furrows between the eyebrows, drooping of the brow and upper eyelids, and loss of the brow’s natural arch. Luckily, brow lift (also known as forehead lift) can often be a great solution for minimizing these aesthetic concerns and restoring a rejuvenated and revitalized facial appearance.
At The Aesthetic Institute of Chicago, Dr. Lorri Cobbins and Dr. Brian Braithwaite offer both non-surgical and surgical options for brow lifting. Differences between the two are highlighted below.
- Non-Surgical Brow Lift – This brow lift approach is generally more appropriate for individuals who have only mild signs of aging, such as minor lines, wrinkles, and folds along the forehead and between the eyebrows. Using a customized combination of BOTOX® Cosmetic and other injectable treatments, our plastic surgeons can smooth skin in the forehead and brow region for a more youthful aesthetic. Due to the non-surgical nature of this technique, however, results are not permanent, so retreatment may be necessary to maintain an optimal outcome.
- Surgical Brow Lift – This approach to brow lift is typically better for women and men who have moderate to severe lines, wrinkles, and creases, as well as any degree of brow drooping. Based on the extent of the patient’s concerns, brow lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia using either a traditional open technique or a less-invasive endoscopic method. Both approaches are designed to smooth wrinkles and lift the brow line via the removal and/or tightening of excess skin and underlying structures of the forehead. Though brow lift surgery does require incisions to be made, any residual scarring tends to heal nicely and remain well concealed in the hairline, and the results achieved are usually long-lasting
Ultimately, both brow lift options can provide exceptional results for the right patients. To find out which may be the best approach to your unique needs and desires, we encourage you to contact our office today to schedule a consultation.
