Mommy Makeover Recovery: What to Expect
Recovery and downtime following a mommy makeover will depend on a variety of factors, including the specific procedures you elect to receive, the number of treatments you undergo, and whether your mommy makeover is conducted at one time or in separate stages.
When performed alone, surgical procedures such as full abdominoplasty, breast augmentation, mastopexy, and liposuction generally require approximately one to two weeks of downtime before non-strenuous daily routines and activities can be fully resumed. However, our board certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Lorri Cobbins and Dr. Brian Braithwaite, strongly recommend that any heavy lifting and/or vigorous exercise/movement should be avoided for at least several weeks after these types of surgeries in order to help ensure proper healing. In the event that two or more major procedures are performed in combination – which is quite common during a mommy makeover – the same recovery guidelines can often still be applied, though some extra downtime may be necessary in particular cases.
Ultimately, every patient heals differently, so recovery and downtime after a mommy makeover will vary by individual. A more personalized outline of what you may be able to anticipate based on your unique needs, goals, and recommended treatment plan can be provided following a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.
